Just realized its been awhile since I've been on here and needed to write down some great restaurants. Been a fast 2 months already. Primarily, I've just been working, drinking, and working out. Already have been to Las Vegas twice on business trips and Palm Springs. Logged two rounds of golf. And spent a weekend up in the Bay Area attending Wes Smith's 40th birthday party. Had a great time & dinner at Postino & Chow in Lafayette and lots of cocktails with Keeler & Baldini. Vegas blew on both trips as it was mobbed for the consumer electronics tradeshow the first trip and Super Bowl weekend the second. But after hearing about the "best Thai food" in the nation, I finally tried Lotus of Siam. Its way off the strip in a gross strip mall with terrible decor, but the food was incredible. I let the waiter & chef bring us whatever wines, apps, soup and entrees they wanted and all turned out incredible. For a big group, it was perfect as the prices were very reasonable especially in light of how badly the strip hotel restaurants gouge you these days. The next night, I had one of the worst meals ever at a dive just off the strip next to Ballys called Battista's Hole in the Wall. Set menu pricing, all you drink crap wine and unedible spinich (I even challenged the waitress to eat one bite & I would tip her big). Don't ever go there. The 3rd night I was vindicted with another great choice, Diego's in the MGM, with great Mexican (Mexico City mexican, not tacos & burritos) and Tequila (bottles for $2600). On my previous trip, I had a crap meal at McCormick & Schmicks, but a great meal at Michael Mina's Seablue in the MGM. All else is good. Heading off to Tokyo this weekend for a week, where I plan to hook up with my buddy from the bay area, Paul Yasuda, also there on business. Keep in touch & call. Cheers,
K
